Xbox Wireless Racing Wheel Catching Fire
Microsoft is having problems staying ahead of the competition. They have had one instance this year of problems with their 360 console and are now having to deal with the 360 Wireless Racing Wheel over heating on gamers.
Microsoft will send out replacement parts for its Xbox 360 Wireless Racing Wheel after 50 reports that the video game controllers overheated and released smoke when plugged in, the software maker said Thursday. The overheating possibility results when the racing wheel is used with the AC/DC power supply and Microsoft said users should stop using the AC/DC power supply until a retrofit has been made.
The steering wheel-shaped controllers mimic the physical sensations of race car driving for games such as “Forza Motorsport 2.” About 230,000 have been sold to consumers, according to the company. This is the second Xbox 360 problem this summer. In July, the company said it expects to spend more than $1 billion (€750 million) to repair hardware problems in the video game console.
It looks like Microsoft will have to pay close to $1 billion to repair the hardware problems for the 360 gaming console. This will possibly hurt sales and push it farther down the top selling list.
