Sony Updates PSP With All New Features
Sony his finally updating their PSP (it’s about time) by giving it the new 3.8 version firmware. Many users have been complaining that it was out of date and that it didn’t have enough features. The new firmware will allow PSP users to stream radio from the internet.
Also included will be RSS support for OPML and pictures plus the capability of 1Seg tuners to use an EPG to schedule Japanese mobile TV recordings. BB Mobile Point Demos, which means that when you’re in the vicinity of an access point for Yahoo BB Mobile Point, you can access the PlayStation Spot retail download service directly from the PSP. Obviously, this means you can pick up demos while on the go.
The shows will be recorded to the Memory Stick Duo, and as you browse the 1seg channel guide, you’ll find that some will even let you flag them in advance for recording. You just can’t record multiple shows at once, and not surprisingly, you also won’t be able to play a game or access the Internet while recording.
The new feature will be ready for release December 18th – but unfortunately it won’t be available to us here in the U.S. Right now it is only being made for users in Japan.
