Playstation Sets Release Date For Revolutionized ‘Eye’

PS3 EyeIt looks like Sony has finally found a way to boost their sales, if only for a little while, by creating an amazing camera. This camera, called ‘The Eye’, can take pictures, record videos, and audio, which you can then save to your hard drive.

Sony has confirmed that the PlayStation Eye will be out in Europe on 7th November and will cost you GBP 24.99 and will come bundled with a free copy of editing suite EyeCreate. You’ll be able to shoot vids at 120fps, take bog standard snaps and even use it as a microphone while taunting online opponents.

The PlayStation Eye has four-times the resolution, twice the frame-rate and double the sensitivity of the EyeToy on PS2, as well as a powerful microphone that can focus on certain audio inputs like you - discarding the need for a separate headset to communicate which means we could be seeing more voice recognition creeping into games over the next year.

The new hardware also comes as part of The Eye of Judgement retail box, which will be out on 26th October. And Sony promises you will be able to claim a free copy of EyeCreate from the PlayStation Store using a magical code.

On October 25th you will be able to get your hands on Eye compatible games – such as Operation Create Feature, Aqua Vita and The Trials of Topoq. Why Sony may not get ahead of Xbox they at least have a chance against Nintendo.
