Microsoft Leads Sales After Slashing Price Of Xbox
Microsoft watched as sales for the Xbox 360 increased after they dramatically lowered the price of the console. The effect that it had was exactly what Microsoft was hoping for and what they needed.
It was reported that retailers saw a 100% increase in sales for the Xbox 360 last weekend when compared to the previous one. Starting last Friday, Xbox 360 prices were cut US$50 to $80 depending on the model.
“At $199, Xbox 360 is now not only the most affordable next-generation console available, but it also packs more entertainment punch per dollar than any other consumer electronics device connected to your TV,” Microsoft said in a statement.
Microsoft started off the year in a slump when monthly sales of the PS3 overlapped the 360 and took over second place in the console war. The war has been largely dominated by Nintendo Wii since it was released in 2006.
