Mario Kart Wii Takes It To New Levels
Mario is a game that has been around for years and years. Eventually we assumed that it would fade out – but Nintendo keeps finding a way to recycle it back into the industry and in the process make it bigger and better than before. In fact Nintendo is taking advantage of the Wii’s motion sensor controls and has created Mario Kart on a whole new level.
Mario Kart Wii is just like the original game that we played all those years ago. You still get to choose which character you want to play (I prefer Toad) and you can try to out race all of the others on several different tracks – which range from medium to hard. The difference with this new game is that everything looks better and you get to play with the motion-sensor steering wheel that makes you feel as if you are actually driving. Ok, so maybe playing with the steering wheel isn’t always easy and for some of us who have big hands it can be quite a challenge. Yet, this doesn’t make it impossible for you to win - it just makes it harder.
While playing Mario Kart on the Wii is fun and makes for a perfect party game – playing it on the DS does not have the same feel to it. The DS has a small screen – which makes it hard for you to see where you are going. One of the best feature additions that we were excited about was the online play. You have the ability to hook up to the network and could play with 11 other players. The only problem with this is that you won’t be able to talk to the players – which means no trash talk.
Mario Kart Wii has once again showed the diversity of Nintendo’s skill. Time and time again they have taken advantage of its popularity and re-invented games that are perfect for a large party.
