Halo 3 Set To Go On Sale For Midnight Release!
Halo 3 hasn’t even been released yet and Microsoft is already going to be putting it on sale for its midnight release tonight. Those of you who took the time to pre-order it are going to be quite upset at the fact that you had to pay full price. There are spculations as to why Microsoft is taking this route. Most likely they are afraid that some will for go the new game. They are going make sure that everyone gets a copy and that their sales are secured.
The first-person shooter science fiction game costs about $60. It was created at Bungie Studios in Kirkland. Super soldiers battle alien invaders with the fate of Earth at stake. The game makes use of Xbox 360 graphics and online multiple player technology. It has a feature that lets gamers save it as a movie they can watch later.
Microsoft has predicted its entertainment and devices division, home of the Xbox 360 console, its games studios and the Zune media player – will finally make a profit this fiscal year after more than $5bn in losses since the Xbox was launched in 2001. Halo 3 and the publicity around it should lift the rest of the industry in a year when software unit sales have been flat to date. Anita Frazier of the NPD research firm says the US industry should hit a record of $16bn to $18bn in hardware and software sales this year. The chief victim of the Halo hype appears to be Sony and its PlayStation 3 console. With global sales of less than 5m, it trails its rivals and lacks any blockbuster games to drive adoption.
But you don’t care what this will do to Microsoft. You are going to stand in line all night waiting to purchase your first copy of Halo 3 so that you can take it home and play it all night. The only thing you will be worrying about is whether there will be another!
