Guitar Hero III Doesn’t Dissapoint

Guitar Hero IIIGuitar Hero marked the beginning of a new wave of gamers. No one expected it to be as popular as it now is and many are shocked that it has made it to game number three. Even though Guitar Hero II was a bit of a disappointment – fans are hoping that Guitar Hero III will bring back everything that we love with a few new things that will spice things up.

Guitar Hero III brings back the serious fun from the first one plus adds new features. It has rock classics such as Metallica’s One, Living Colour’s Cult of Personality, Iron Maiden’s Number of the Beast and even Sonic Youth’s cult hit Kool Thing.

New to the series of Guitar Hero are boss battles that occur within your travels to becoming a legend. Tom Morello from Rage Against the Machine and Slash from Guns N’ Roses are some of the bosses you have to beat. Also, Bret Michaels of Poison – and sadly, the VH1 reality show circuit – is an in-game character who sings while you play.

Once again you’ll be using the guitar controller’s fretboard by pressing the colored buttons in time with the symbols scrolling at lightning speed across the screen. Completing a long string of complex button taps to perfectly trigger a wild guitar solo is what makes the game perfect. It’s just as entertaining watching someone else pull off their rock moves as it is to play the game yourself.

I was able to test it and as much fun as it was it was a very challenging game – which is not a bad thing. The more challenging a game is the more fun it presents to the gamer – as long as it isn’t impossible to play. Guitar Hero III is available on the PS2, PS3, Xbox 360, and Wii.
