It seems that Europe is making America look bad by improving the Playstation to a degree that has raised the stakes higher than ever in the gaming world. They have just added a DVR to the Playstation making it even more high tech and more worth having than ever.
The device, called PlayTV, will utilize Europe’s Digital Video Broadcasting - Terrestrial (DVB-T) signals to turn your PS3 into a television receiver. PlayTV is a twin TV tuner that will enable European console owners the ability to watch and record their favorite shows to watch at their convenience.

The Sims games have been around forever(or so it seems)and they are still as popular as they were back than, if not even more. Sims 2 Castaway is the newest addition to the series where you are washed ashore on a deserted island and must use the things around you as tools to help you survive against the harsh weather.
The journey in The Sims 2 Castaway begins when your Sims are washed ashore and must overcome the forces of nature, craft tools for survival, and explore their surroundings to unravel the island’s mysteries. They’ll learn to build a life from scratch in an undiscovered paradise while unearthing clues that will lead them back to civilization.

Last week at E3 they announced that their will be a newer PSP hitting the market before the year is up. This new and improved PSP will be slimmer and lighter, which is no surprise. Everything starts off bulky and eventually slims down over time. You can see it with everything, especially cellphones and game systems.
The skinnier and lighter PSP is said to be hitting stores in Japan starting in September with an estimated street price of 19,800 Yen, which is about US$162. That’s a solid $38 cheaper than the $200 bundles. Right now we don’t know what else is included with the new package or if anything has been removed.

EA (Electronic Arts) announced that, beginning September 1st, they will no longer be offering online support for its older - more specifically those developed prior to 2007 (that’s old?). The first round of shutdowns are almost solely for the older sports titles, which probably won’t make much of an impact on the gaming community because most of the hardcore gamers (those needing support) stay up to date with each year’s new release. Now the second round on November 1st is gonna cut support for Burnout Revenge and Need for Speed titles, which will probably have a more noticable impact on gamers.

Nintendo is still owning the polls (don’t worry, we’ll translate for you : ), led by the DS Lite which continues to dominate sales with 150,000 units followed by the supply constrained Wii with 77,000. The Xbox 360 saw a small sales increase, with Microsoft’s console recording 3,872 units. The big suprise? For the first time in many months, the PlayStation 3 outsold its predecessor (the PS2 for those alittle slow) with sales more than doubling from last week’s total of 12,187 to 28,829 units this week.
Hardware sales for the week ended July 29 (This is for Japan):
