Sony Releases SingStar To PS3

SingStarSingStar is one of the more popular items that was released by Sony. That is why it is no surprise to us that they have worked on making a version of the game for the PS3 console. The new version allows you to download songs off of the PlayStation Network and allows you to personalize your playlists.

SingStar for the PS3 is almost the same as the one that was on the PS2 console. You still have the ability to plug in a microphone to the console, and start singing to any song that you like. There are 30 tracks that come on the game and they are from some of the popular bands like Blink 182, Musical Youth, The Killer, and REM. Of course there are some songs on there with titles that we didn’t even recognize.

PS3 Reaches 1 Million Mark In UK

PS3Sony is excited to see that they have sold over 1 million of their PS3 consoles in the UK since it has been released in March of 2007. They were able to reach this goal after only 47 weeks. This has broken the old record of 50 weeks that it took for the PS2 to reach this 1 million mark.

Sony also managed to beat Microsoft’s Xbox 360, which took 60 weeks, but comes nowhere near the runaway success of Nintendo’s Wii which reached a million UK sales in just 38 weeks. Entertainment market research firm ChartTrack also revealed that the PS3 has been outselling the Xbox 360 for the past month, although they were “neck and neck over the Christmas period”.

PS3 To Release Gran Turismo 5 Prologue

Gran Turismo 5 PrologueSony was hoping that the PS3 would take off starting in 2008 – but was disappointed when they saw that sales were still declining. It seems that even with all of the exclusives that they have paid millions of dollars to show off to PS3 gamers they have not made it to the top of everyone’s to-do list.

This week though Sir Howard Stringer – CEO of Sony – is confident that things will change with the release of the Gran Turismo 5 prologue. This will be the next game in the famous racing series that has sold over 100 million PS2 copies in the past.

Sony’s Stream My Game Feature Proves Useless

Stream My GameWhen we first heard about PS3’s new StreamMyGame feature we were excited. For those of you who have not heard – StreamMyGame allows PS3 gamers to install Linux onto their PS3 –which will then allow them to play their PC games on their console. Sounds exciting doesn’t?

Unfortunately this is too good to be true and you will find that there are more than a few barriers that may stand in our way. The StreamMyGame application only works if the game is actually running on your PC. The service converts a game running on the PC into an audio and video file, and then streams that file to a PS3 running Linux. What this means is that the PS3 is not actually running the game – rather it is just helping the game be display on a TV or monitor other than your PC.
