The holidays are coming quickly around the corner and with the holidays comes a mad rush of people trying to get their hands on the best game systems that are available, and even some of the cheaper ones. Rumor has it that Sony will be lowering the price of the 80GB Playstation 3 down to $499 from $599 for the holiday season.

Additionally, the company will launch a new 40GB PS3 model for $399 complete with a Spider Man 3 movie bundle. Sony will make official the rumor at this year’s Tokyo Game Show later this month in addition to dropping the price of the PS2 to $99.

Nintendo is still at the top of the console list and is breaking records and making Sony and Xbox look bad. Xbox has been taking action to try and fix this, but up until now Sony hasn’t done anything. Now they have decided that if you can’t beat them, than you might as well join them.

Sony plans to launch a Nintendo Wii-esque looking PlayStation 2 (PS2), shipping the product with a karaoke game, two mics and white controller for only $150 in the US. The limited edition ‘Ceramic White’ PS2, bundled with SingStar Pop, will launch in November as Sony attempts to boost sales of its new usurped PlayStation.

The Sims games have been around forever(or so it seems)and they are still as popular as they were back than, if not even more. Sims 2 Castaway is the newest addition to the series where you are washed ashore on a deserted island and must use the things around you as tools to help you survive against the harsh weather.

The journey in The Sims 2 Castaway begins when your Sims are washed ashore and must overcome the forces of nature, craft tools for survival, and explore their surroundings to unravel the island’s mysteries. They’ll learn to build a life from scratch in an undiscovered paradise while unearthing clues that will lead them back to civilization.

It’s funny how when something catches on and gets popular people like to jump on the band wagon and follow the trend. Why? For the money of course! Sony saw how people reacted to the Wii, how people love it so they decided to get in on the action.

The new PS2 controller uses In2Games’s special “Freedom” motion-sensing technology and will be unveiled at the Leipzig Games Convention event next week, along with six new PS2 titles that will take advantage of its capabilities. The games will appear under the brand name “Realplay” and are mostly made up of sports such as Realplay Pool, Realplay Golf, and Realplay Bowling. They will retail for 30 pounds in the UK this Christmas.

There aren’t many games that are made for every different game systems. Usually they are exclusive to one game system. For example: Halo 3 is exclusive to the Xbox 360. The Spiderwick Chronicles game has been made for Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii, Nintendo DS, PC, and PS2.
