Nintendo Releasing Newer And More Improved DS Model

Nintendo DSSales for the handheld Nintendo DS has seen a drop when compared to last year’s sales. For some time now we have all been looking for signs that Nintendo would be redesigning the DS or releasing a brand new model that would offer more features and be slightly more exciting then the current model.

According to Nikkei Net that time has finally come! The new system will be released in Japan no later then the end of the year. The features for the new device include music playback, camera function, and improved wireless capabilities. Those are the only details that we have at this time.



PlayStation Launches Live Channel

Live Channel LogoPlayStation has launched their brand new service this week – Live Channel. The news and weather service allows you to view what is going on right at that moment in time and what kind of weather you are going to have in your area right there on your PS3 console. The service allows you to view around the 3D map of the world to search for weather and news updates.

You have the ability to pull info from the Weather Channel, Earth Television Network, and Google news. Live Channel can obtain information from at least 60 cities from around the world. The best part about this service is that it is absolutely free – as long as you have a PS3 console of course.



Microsoft Leads Sales After Slashing Price Of Xbox

Xbox Price SlashedMicrosoft watched as sales for the Xbox 360 increased after they dramatically lowered the price of the console. The effect that it had was exactly what Microsoft was hoping for and what they needed.

It was reported that retailers saw a 100% increase in sales for the Xbox 360 last weekend when compared to the previous one. Starting last Friday, Xbox 360 prices were cut US$50 to $80 depending on the model.

“At $199, Xbox 360 is now not only the most affordable next-generation console available, but it also packs more entertainment punch per dollar than any other consumer electronics device connected to your TV,” Microsoft said in a statement.

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed Pulls In Millions Of Viewers

Star Wars: The Force UnleashedWe just can’t help but be excited about the newly released demo for Star Wars: The Force Unleashed and it looks as if most people agree with us. LucasArts bragged today that the demo was able to break all of the previous download records for Xbox Live.

They stated that during the first eight days that it was released the demo received over a million downloads. Those numbers combined with the number of people from the PlayStation Network version it is a total of 2.3 million people. With this large amount of people we can only imagine how the sales will be when the full version of the game is finally released September 16th on the Xbox 360, PS2 and 3, and Nintendo Wii.
