Activision Releasing ‘Game Of The Year’ Edition For Call Of Duty 4

Call Of Duty 4 On XboxActivision will be releasing a special “Game of the Year” edition for the anticipated Call of Duty 4 on Microsoft’s Xbox 360 console. The game is set to be released next month and will come with a special box that will have a new look to it and a token that can be used to download the up and coming ‘Variety Map Pack’. This is the first DLC that will be released for Infinity Ward’s FPS.



Microsoft Experiences Sales Drop As Shortage Continues

Xbox 360The Xbox 360 from Microsoft was once one of the main gaming consoles. However, this month they have reported that they are having a “shortage in console availability”. Sales that were once up are not falling quickly down behind even the PS3.

The 360 sold 254,600 units for the month while the Nintendo Wii sold 351,800 units and the Sony PlayStation 3 sold 280,900 units. The console equally trailed its competitors for January. “Our retailers are telling us that Xbox 360 is selling as fast as they can restock, but due to this high demand, Xbox 360 is experiencing temporary shortages,” Microsoft said in an e-mail. “We are working as quickly as we can to replenish inventory.”



PS3 Firmware Update Available

PS3This week Sony has released a new version of its firmware for the PS3. Those of you who have been away from their console can turn it on and will receive a message telling them that they need to download the new 2.17 version. If you haven’t already you need to sign up with the PS Network – which is free to those who were wondering.

Sony says that the only real changes in the latest firmware is that the “the operating stability of some online PS3 titles has been improved”. Nothing to get to excited about.

Microsoft May Be Introducing Blu-ray To 360 Console

Blu-ray 360Sony is in the middle of working out a deal with Microsoft about offering a Blu-ray drive for the Xbox 360 console. Sony has added the Blu-ray as a feature for the PS3 and is using it against Microsoft’s famed console. That is because Microsoft has been standing behind Toshiba and their HD-DVD format and have offered an HD drive that can easily be plugged into the 360.
