Many people have wondered why the Xbox 360 and PS3 consoles have not out sold the Nintendo Wii and why they seem to always be struggling to stay ahead in the race. The two companies have been around for some time now and once upon a time they used to be the consoles to have. Now it seems that the prices they are asking for are too steep for most people to handle.
Many major game publishers beleive that the prices of the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 must fall to $199 before the consoles will have any real mass market appeal. Cheaper hardware would increase sales even more dramatically and keep them both financially stable.

It seems that another problem is plaugueing the Xbox 360 game system and they are calling it the ‘3 rings of doom’. Apparently any time your Xbox 360 gives you three flashing lights when you turn it on instead of the green power light than you know for sure that it is experiencing the dreaded meltdown.
The problem is usually showing its ugly red lights with the older 360 consoles and their inability to handle the heat that is caused when you play it for too long. Now with the large numbers of high profile Xbox 360 titles that are being released, the 360 is really getting a workout and those older units are showing those problems.

Christmas shopping has officially begun and the Playstation is starting off with a bang. After the hectic rush of Black Friday Sony was able to take a step back and evaluate exactly how much they had sold.
Sales showed that the PlayStation 3 shot up to 298 percent since Sony introduced the cheaper $399 40GB and most of the sales occurred on Black Friday. The news follows a similar positive week in Japan, where the PS3 outsold Nintendo’s Wii for the very first time.
